"Thornbridge are very supportive of me being a working mum"

What’s your role at Thornbridge?

I am the Sales Administrator for Thornbridge.

How long have you worked for Thornbridge/ how did you end up here?

I have worked for Thornbridge for nearly four years, I started in April 2015, having previously worked for a nursery and after school club. After having my son, I wanted a change in career and an opportunity came up at Thornbridge in the sales team.

What do you like about working at Thornbridge?

The best thing about working for Thornbridge is their approach in terms of flexible working, I have a seven-year-old son and Thornbridge are very supportive of me being a working mum.

I am able to work around my son's school hours which means I can be there to drop him off and pick him up most days, and its things like this that make you want to work harder to show gratitude for being able to not only work but be also be a mum.

Favourite Thornbridge beer and why?

My favourite beer is Cocoa Wonderland, I absolutely love chocolate so this beer gives me the best of both worlds.

Favourite thing to do outside of work?

My absolute favourite thing to do outside of work is spending time and making memories with my son Sonny, you can usually find us walking our dog, Winston, around the Peak District with me taking far too many pictures of them both. J

In the spirit of International women’s day who is your Female hero?

My female hero is actually my Grandma, this wonderful woman has just been on a three-month trip around Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong and currently lives in Spain. At 73 years old she really is a strong, independent, adventurous woman living her life to the fullest, she is someone who I most certainly admire and look up to.

The theme for International Women’s day this year is ‘Balance for Better’, all about creating a gender balanced world, how will you create a balance for better?

Being a mother I want to bring my son up not stereotyping people and having biased views of what men and women ‘should’ be doing. I want to raise him to believe that men and women are equal in this world and that everyone has the same opportunities.
